How much does it cost to animate a logo?
Animating your logo is a great way to present your company online and in film. When done correctly, logo animation can actually enhance your logo, adding interest and intrigue through motion.
So, how much does it cost to animate a logo? Well, to answer that question you first need to decide which type of animated logo you want to create:
- A bespoke animated logo - something that's completely unique for your logo design.
- Or a more simple animated logo that uses a template to apply pre-designed animation to your logo.
These two options are like the options for buying clothes, you could opt for something completely unique and tailor made which will cost a lot more, or you can buy something ready made from a store for a much lower price.
Bespoke logo animation costs
Bespoke logo animation projects start at £750. This covers the process mentioned below and the time it takes to iterate through design ideas. It’s also enough to cover a logo animation around 5 seconds or so in length, with a video file provided as the final deliverable.
From this base price, animation costs then increase depending on various factors, such as: longer animation time, additional deliverables (like producing the logo animation in different colours), more advanced or complex animation required, and unique formats such as SVG animation for use on websites.
All of these factors, and others that could be unique to your project can increase the logo animation costs, that being said the top range for logo animation projects is usually around the £2000 mark.
The logo animation process
The process I take for animating a logo is to look at what the logo itself is comprised of, how each of the elements could move, and how they could potentially bring in other parts of the logo. It’s a process of trial, experimentation, and iterating through various approaches to find out what works and what doesn’t, ultimately leading to the best animation for the logo in question.
The animation below for example had a few different iterations before landing on the chosen approach:
Ultimately, the best way to find out how much it will cost to animate your specific logo, is to send me an email and I can provide a detailed quote for you.
The animated logo template option
If you don’t have the budget for a completely bespoke animated logo, you can always opt to use a template instead. With this approach, your logo is placed into a template file and pre-designed animation is applied to it. The animation won’t be unique to your logo and it is often much more simple in style than a bespoke logo animation, however it can be useful if you’re just looking for something quick and cheap.
How much a templated logo animation costs depends on whether or not you need a motion designer to put your logo into the template and render it for you. My standard charge for this type of project is usually £175 plus the cost of the template.
Of course you could also try your hand at using the template yourself, for this you would need a copy of Adobe After Effects and an animated template to use. There are plenty of templates out there to choose from, if you like my work then I’ve actually created a logo animation template on Loop which you can purchase and use.
So that’s a brief overview of how much it costs to animate a logo! If you have any questions, just send me an email and I’d be happy to explain the process and costs in more detail.
